We’re proud to celebrate our Chief Scientific Officer, Dr. Lauren Stevenson and VP Biomarker Sciences, John Allinson for their participation in this cross-industry collaboration.
How should biomarker assays be developed and validated? More than 40 scientists gathered at a pre-conference workshop before AAPS PharmSci360 2019 in San Antonio to tackle this question. “Best practices for the development and fit-for-purpose validation of biomarker methods” by Joel Mathews, PhD, Lakshmi Amaravadi, Steven Eck, Lauren Stevenson, Yow-Ming Wang, Viswanath Devanarayan, John Allinson, Kelly Lundsten, Michele Gunsior (she/her), Yan G. Ni, Marc-olivier pepin, Audrey Gagnon, Curtis Sheldon, Paul C Trampont, and Virginia Litwin captures the presentations and discussions from that day.
While full consensus on best practices was not achieved, the workshop identified common themes and key considerations for assay parameters and statistical measures in biomarker method development. Biomarker assay validation remains a complex and evolving area, and this report provides a valuable snapshot of where the field stands and where discussions are heading. Published in AAPS Open, this conference report has become one of the journal’s most highly viewed papers from 2022.
